Climate Liability, Justice and Jurisprudence
The escalating climate crisis has become one of the most pressing challenges of our time, which demands immediate action and robust legal frameworks. To encourage discussions around this rising challenge, Mobius Foundation, in collaboration with the Environment Law & Development Foundation, successfully convened a significant panel discussion, “Climate Liability, Justice, and Jurisprudence,” on September 27, 2024, at Travancore House, New Delhi. Esteemed legal experts and environmental advocates gathered at the event to address the need for accountability and the establishment of solid legislation in light of the escalating climate crisis. The esteemed panel featured prominent speakers, including:

The panel critically examined the intersections of climate change liability and legal frameworks and focused on key themes, including climate liability, climate justice, and evolving jurisprudence. It explored accountability mechanisms for various stakeholders in India, emphasizing the need for inclusive policies to protect vulnerable communities affected by climate change. In addition to that
The panel was expertly moderated by Jatinder Jay Cheema, a Projects, Energy, and Natural Resources lawyer. In his closing remarks, he emphasized the importance of charting a sustainable course for humanity in our interdependent, transboundary world.
